I want to edit this photo so badly to include the saying “Come at me, bro” at the bottom.  This little guy is the newest addition to the family, Santiago, my nephew number 2. This is his first time eating solid food, and right away he develop his new “I’m a big kid now” attitude.

This photo was taken, while we (the fam) went to Costa Rica for our Christmas vay-cay to visit.  My eldest brother, Victor, his wife, Karla, and the two boys, Gabriel and Santiago live in San Jose, Costa Rica.

My mom’s side is from Costa Rica and this is the first time I have ever been able to finally visit. I stayed for about three weeks.

Three weeks included:

struggling with my fluency in spanish (including the native costa rican slang), meeting family i have never met before, living in that disgusting humid weather (our winter is their summer), crazy drivers and crazy potholes (i will never complain about one again), hearing a 6 year old yell “AUNTIE, AUNTIE, AUNTIE…come play this game, watch me do this, listen to this story, wheres your iPhone,….” all day long, everyday…and much, much, more.

The trip had its ups and downs, but I loved it and glad I was able to go. And we all thank  Apple’s FaceTime for letting us see this little guy grow. Even though we live in different countries, we can see him right in the palm of our hands (or laps, for the macbook..the screen is way bigger).
