Sunsets, Sunsets, Sunsets.

This glorious sunset photograph was taken at Pillar Point, a beach in Half Moon Bay, California…which happens to be the same beach that the Mavericks Surf Competition is held.

Mavericks is what the waves at Pillar Point were named…Why Mavericks you ask? That was the name of one of the original surfers’ fearless canine companion.  Check out the whole story on how Mavericks started.

I know that this was not taken from my car, but, it is “on the go”… After class, on a sunny Friday afternoon, my sister came by with our dog Mauna Loa (who’s name I wish was ironically Maverick), and we hit up Half Moon Bay…we ate tacos from Tres Amigos sitting on the cars’ tailgate, beachfront, parked next to a beachfront restaurant (irony)…. took the pup to run wild on the sand, and then I proceeded to take close to 300 photos on the beach.

I have considered Half Moon Bay to be like a second, or third, home for me ever since I was little. The family would always take trips to the beach…but we never actually went in the water (which, if you are a bay area native, you know is freezing and unbearable without a wetsuit). I have fallen in the water, chased after an umbrella, chased after our dog, met a variety of people, and enjoyed countless sunsets.  It’s love.

I love Half Moon Bay so much, I promise that this is only one of many photos of the area that I will post. In fact, I will post a few right now. Enjoy 🙂
